Margaret Ellison

DIRECTOR & LEAD CONSERVATOR

Founded the council’s conservation studio in 1994. Margaret has led the restoration of forty sites and still climbs every scaffold she approves.

HEAD OF ARCHIVES

Keeper of the Living Archives programme. Thomas catalogued the first 10,000 documents himself and built the free online reading room.

MASTER MASON

Trained ninety apprentices in lime mortar and stone indenting on live scaffolds across the Echoes of Stone programme.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

Matches 3,500 volunteers to digs, cleans, guiding rotas, and garden teams — and remembers every regular’s tea order.
