Overview
The market halls where cities grew up.
Echoes of Stone is our rolling programme for civic architecture: the market halls, memorial arcades, statues, and town houses that anchor city centres. Many are listed, all are loved, and most had suffered decades of patchwork repairs that were quietly failing.
Working with city councils and local traders, we survey each structure stone by stone, train apprentices in traditional masonry on live scaffolds, and reopen the buildings to the street life they were built for — markets, concerts, and everyday errands.
Stone & masonry
Repointing in lime mortar, indent repairs with matching stone, and careful cleaning that keeps two centuries of patina intact.
Iron & glass
Restoring vaulted glass roofs and decorative ironwork — the daylight engines of Victorian arcades and market halls.
Statues & memorials
Bronze conservation, plinth repairs, and legible new interpretation so monuments speak clearly again.
